Charlie Bishop – drums and percussion
The first album I bought was one of the early Police. I remember listening to The Jungle Brothers, Public Enemy and LL Cool J. Now I listen to a lot of different things. My play list changes all the time. At the moment, I'm really into the White Stripes, Basement Jaxx, also Chemical Brothers and U2.

My mum was a ballet instructor, so I was a natural dancer. At the time, I was really into break dancing, break beats and Hip Hop. I auditioned for Ballet Rambert when I was really young but because of my Asthma, I didn’t get in.

Coming back from India it was a real event to head off to an English boarding school. I started playing drums, as a kind of escape from the restrictions.

It made it more difficult for me to integrate in the English boarding in some ways because of the whole spiritual outlook existent in India. I was in touch with a lot of energy. It kept getting me into little troubles at school, so drumming became the channel for my creative work and energy. The drums gave me a bit of sanity in the mixture of insanity; it gave me grounding.

At school, I started playing piano by myself. My parents couldn’t afford to give me both piano lessons and drums but I taught myself the basics and I can read a bit of music.

In 1992 I was living in Richmond, on my own, thank God. I studied music at the Institute of Brunel, Richmond on Thames. After a two years course in Popular Music, I got into South Ealing College for a three-year degree course through drum tech. The elite music course chose ten drummers from the whole of Europe. Because of lack of finances I couldn’t go there, my parents wouldn’t support me to do it- but then I would probably not be here with the Inspirition guys; I would live in London, with no kid and not be married. My boy is the cutest little boy in the whole world! He’s got a bright future, he could be a good drummer, and he likes to sing a lot.

I went to a lot of raves with my brother (a DJ), back in the days when the raves happened outside in the middle of a muddy field. After hearing the music, it became a natural progression to make my own dance music. I would be drawn to learning microphone and recording techniques while working in the studio (Real World, through Jean Sibrey and Alex Gifford). Getting to Ibiza, and taking part in the whole holistic scene, I massaged a lot of celebrities for six months and made dance music. My wife (now running the business www.WondrousGems.com) met me there. When we ran out of money we came back to the UK. I don’t want to know about my future - I just wanna be rich, and go to the top by being successful.
